The web pages linked below
offer information for home fruit growers in the Midwest. These links
are especially useful to the home fruit grower because they contain
an extensive selection of online publications, photographs of cultural
practices, pests, and disease symptoms, and even useful links to
more home gardening pages.
Although this linked information includes the non-Minnesota sites
at Ohio State and the University of Missouri, much of the information
they contain can be applied to apple, grape, and berry growing in
our region as well. In general, cultural practices are similar within
much of the eastern United States. Pests and diseases affecting
crops will differ by region, as will specific control measures,
but IPM principles remain the same. Variety recommendations, however,
are specific for each climatic region, so Minnesota gardeners should
refer to our own site when choosing varieties.
